Huawei P-Series Back Glass Replacement: Navigating Adhesive and Frame Compatibility

Huawei P-series devices use some of the most precisely machined frames in the Android market, which makes back glass replacements more exacting than equivalent Samsung or iPhone jobs.

Part Selection

Huawei back glass parts are model-specific to a degree that catches technicians out. The P30 Pro, P40 Pro, and P50 Pro each use different glass dimensions, camera cutout shapes, and adhesive profiles. The colour variant also matters — some Huawei ceramic variants use a different adhesive system than glass variants. Confirm your full model number from Settings > About Phone before ordering.

Adhesive Removal

Huawei uses a strong UV-cured adhesive on P-series rear glass. A heat mat at 85–95°C for 3–4 minutes is the recommended approach — longer heat exposure at lower temperature is safer than short, high heat. Thin plastic cards work better than metal pry tools on curved glass. Work slowly around the curved edges, which are the highest risk area for cracking.

Camera Module Protection

Huawei P-series devices have large, protruding camera modules with multiple Leica lenses. Cover the camera glass with a protection strip before beginning work — any accidental tool contact can scratch the optical glass, which is a separate and expensive repair.

Reassembly
