16. DS3231 is a low-cost, high-precision I2C real-time clock (RTC) with integrated temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal. The device contains a battery input, which can maintain accurate timing when the main power is disconnected. The integrated crystal oscillator improves the long-term accuracy of the device and reduces the number of components in the production line. The DS3231 offers commercial and industrial temperature ranges and is available in a 16-pin 300mil SO package.
17. RTC saves seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month and year information. Months less than 31 days will automatically adjust the end of the month, including corrections for leap years. The working format of the clock can be 24 hours or a 12-hour format with / AM / PM indication. Provide two configurable calendar alarms and a configurable square wave output. The address and data are transferred serially via the I2C bidirectional bus.
Sophisticated, temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuits are used to monitor VCC status, detect power failures, provide reset outputs, and automatically switch to backup power when necessary. In addition, the / RST monitor pin can be used as a manual input to generate a μP reset.
18. In addition to high timing accuracy, the DS3231 also has some other functions that expand the additional functions and selection range of the system host. The device integrates a very accurate digital temperature sensor, which can be accessed through the I2C * interface (just like time). The accuracy of this temperature sensor is +/- 3 degree C. The on-chip control circuit can realize automatic power supply detection and manage the power supply switching between the main power supply and the backup power supply (that is, the low-voltage battery). If the main power supply is powered down, the device can continue to provide accurate timing and temperature without affecting performance. When the main power supply is re-energized or the voltage value returns to the allowable range, the on-chip reset function can be used to restart the system microprocessor.
